Trash service temporarily disrupted
Trash collection service was temporarily disrupted due to a 48-hour work stoppage by Teamsters, Local 350. The work stoppage is a result of on-going contract discussions between the union and Allied Waste at the Ox Mountain Landfill in Half Moon Bay.

Republic Services and Allied Waste complete merger
Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE:RSG)and Allied Waste Industries, Inc. (NYSE: AW) today announced that they have completed their merger to create one of the nation's leading waste and environmental services providers. The combined company, which will be based in Phoenix, is named Republic Services, Inc. and trades under the ticker symbol "RSG" on The New York Stock Exchange. As of the close of the market on December 5, Allied stock will be delisted and will no longer trade on the NYSE.

Allied Waste rewards customers for recycling
Allied Waste is pleased to announce an exciting new relationship with RecycleBank, the premier rewards and loyalty program that motivates people to recycle. The Allied Watse-RecycleBank program is expected to be implemented nationwide in 2009. This new partnership is just one more example of Allied Waste's progress in becoming a complete waste-stream manager that can provide innovative solutions to our customers. Fall 2010 Compost Giveaway
Saturday September 11th and Saturday October 9th

Allied Waste and RethinkWaste will be teaming up with member communities to give away compost this Fall.  The compost is made from local residential yard trimmings and composted at our Newby Island facility.  Residents will be able to take up to 1 cubic yard of compost (about six full garbage cans) at no charge from selected locations as long as supply lasts. Residents should bring shovels, gloves, containers, and proof of residency.

September 11th &  October 9th locations: 
Burlingame: Burlingame High School – 420 Carolan Ave
Foster City: Boat Park - Foster City Blvd and Bounty
Hillsborough: 1600 Floribunda Ave
Redwood City: Corporation Yard - 1400 Broadway
